Introduction

In June 2024, a global technology giant opened its first-ever retail store in Malaysia—an underground architectural landmark within The Exchange TRX.

The project

Designed by Foster + Partners, the store features a luminous, layered roof structure and blends tropical greenery with precision engineering, making it one of the most distinctive stores in the brand’s global portfolio.

Mint was brought into the project following the successful completion of a high-profile retail fit-out for the same client in Singapore’s Changi Jewel. That proven track record—paired with our ability to navigate high-specification requirements under tight timelines—was key to our selection for the Kuala Lumpur landmark.

Mint was engaged to deliver full MEPF works, designed to meet the brand’s stringent global standards. The subterranean layout posed unique challenges—airflow, lighting, and electrical routing needed to be precise, concealed, and coordinated down to the millimetre.

Our team worked closely with the main contractor and specialist subcontractors to ensure seamless integration of systems, including clean power distribution for sensitive tech displays, concealed services to preserve the aesthetic intent, and sustainable systems that aligned with the roof’s solar shading features.

Today, the space feels expansive and bright despite its underground footprint—proof of the client’s vision and the execution delivered by every team on site. For Mint, it’s a continuation of our regional growth and a reminder that even the most complex designs are only as good as the systems behind the walls.
